Steve Babaeko selected as juror for 2024 Cannes Lions Festival

The organizers of the prestigious Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity have announced Steve Babaeko, renowned global creative and CEO/Chief Creative Officer of X3M Ideas Group, as a jury member for the Print & Publishing Lions category at the upcoming awards.

Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a premier global event for professionals in creative communications, advertising, and related fields, known as the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.

Babaeko is one of 19 creatives selected from 14 markets to participate in a special learning and development program during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, scheduled from June 17-21, 2024.

Expressing his excitement on LinkedIn, Babaeko said, “As a jury member, I look forward to contributing my perspective to evaluating groundbreaking creativity that will set the standard for the coming year. This is an amazing opportunity for creatives to gain global recognition and make history.”

With over two decades of experience in advertising, Babaeko is the only Nigerian listed among Adweek’s elite group of 13 Global Creative Leaders in 2019. He currently serves as the President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) and has been a keynote speaker at the 2018 International Advertising Association conference. Additionally, he has served on the Grand Jury of the New York Advertising Festival for three consecutive years.

Babaeko’s leadership has propelled X3M Ideas to become Nigeria’s most innovative creative agency and one of the most prestigious on the continent. Under his guidance, the agency made history in 2023 by winning the first-ever Cannes Lion medal for the West African region. X3M Ideas also dominated the Nigerian market, being named the most creative agency in 2020, 2021, and 2023 according to the LAIF awards, establishing itself as one of Africa’s leading creative powerhouses.

Starting his career in 1995 with MC&A Saatchi & Saatchi, where he worked for five years, Babaeko later joined Prima Garnet Ogilvy for another five years. He spent seven years at 141 Worldwide as a creative director before founding X3M Ideas in 2012. Over the years, he has served as a jury member at various international advertising festivals, including the New York Advertising Festival and The Loeries Awards.
